I’ll never forget the day everything became clear.
I was at coach training in Dallas. Being coached by a peer.
With one simple question I knew everything.
Everything that had driven me for years.
Everything that had inspired my parenting, my focus, my life.
I had an invisible basket at my side. It had always been there.
For as long as I could remember.
And yet, I never really KNEW about it till that day.
But I knew everything that was in it.
It held all my wins. All the things that made me “ME”.
All the things that made me worthy. Made me valuable.
That made me someone to know and to be with and to hire.
The awards, accolades, and titles that made me special. Made me better.
Or so I thought.
Turns out that invisible basket was more like an anchor dragging me down.
Holding me in one place and not allowing me to move forward.
Making it impossible for me to truly love myself and to truly love others.
I looked through the invisible basket that day and decided to leave it behind.
To stop carrying it with me.
I no longer needed a basket to prove my worth. To prove my value.
I’d been searching my whole life for that ONE PRIZE that would tell me I’d arrived.
Turns out, it’s the journey that creates the person. Not the prize.
And suddenly, I knew I’d already arrived.
