Leave an amazing accounting job to coach teens?
Yes, I DID.
Today it happened again.
Someone asked me why I left my accounting job to coach teens.
The answer is always the same.
I feel INSPIRED to coach TEENS. This is what I’m meant to do.
Some days I wonder if I’ve made the wrong choice and if I’ve lost my mind.
Then I remember Spencer.
Spencer is a handsome, red-haired teen I met in Wisconsin.
He was at a large event that I was speaking at.
He asked to meet with me privately.
We sat together and he talked. I listened.
He was SO nervous. He was visibly shaking and uncomfortable.
He shared struggles he was having.
And I guided him through his thoughts.
We discovered ONE sentence that was wreaking havoc for him.
“I don’t know how I should be.”
This one belief was keeping him from showing up in his life.
He felt stuck. Scared. Awkward. Helpless.
He wanted to change it all. So he did.
With some coaching, he was able to find a new thought.
A thought that allowed him to be HIM.
“I am me and that’s ok.”
Everything changed.
He was calm, relaxed, and comfortable, both physically and mentally.
He thanked me with a warm, gracious smile, and quickly returned to the dance.
That night Spencer altered the course of his life because of coaching.
Coaching changes lives. It helps us get unstuck. It helps us move forward. It helps us see the results we are creating. It helps us achieve our dreams.
