Listen

Friends listen to friends. If you want your teen to talk to you…Listen.
Just listen.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Here’s how:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
* Give your full attention.
* Make eye contact.
* Lean towards your child, or get on “his level”.
* Use facial expressions that show interest.
* Let your actions support your verbal message.
* Keep your own talk to a minimum (avoid jumping in with your own advice), but encourage the flow of communication with non-committal acknowledgments like: “mh-hm”, “oh”, and “really”.

If you say anything, say “I understand.”
