As another school year comes to a close,
In our era of perfection and achievement,
I want to recognize those that aren’t being recognized.
Those that aren’t at the top of their class.
Those that aren’t invited to the awards ceremony.
Those that didn’t receive scholarships from every school.
Those that barely made it.
Those that stayed late to ensure they’d walk.
Those that weren’t sure it could be done.
But make it you did. You graduated.
I see you. I celebrate you. I applaud you.
And I invite you to celebrate you!
There is nothing that makes you less than.
Less worthy, less special, less valuable.
All human beings are equally lovable.
All human beings are worthy.
Not one of us is better than another.
Achievements do not make us better.
Awards do not make us special.
You’re special, my friend.
Just because you’re you.
I see you.
