Every Sunday we go to church.
My job at church is to teach music and gospel lessons to the children. So I do.
It is NOT the job I would ask for.
It is NOT the job I have natural skills for.
I don’t have musical talents. I don’t sing. I don’t lead music. I just don’t.
But I do it anyway and you know what….I LOVE IT!
Today when we got in the car after church, I asked my girls how church was for them.
They answered with their typical, “It was fine.”
Then they asked me and I said, “It was so much fun!”
My oldest daughter looked at me and said, “You ALWAYS say that.”
This got me thinking.
I do always say that. ALWAYS.
Even on the days I don’t feel ready. Unprepared. Unworthy. Unable.
The truth is I DO always have so much fun. I truly do.
I genuinely LOVE doing something that doesn’t come naturally to me.
That I don’t naturally excel at.
The only reason I’m able to do it is because of my belief in one sentence.
“I am the fun.”
When I start teaching and the kids are NOT paying attention, NOT listening.
Kids are talking out of turn.
I remember, “I am the fun” and then I create the FUN, for me.
I LOVE teaching these kids every week. I LOVE sharing with them.
I LOVE being with them. I LOVE having FUN with them.
With my thinking I am able to create an experience I enjoy. That IS fun.
I sincerely have FUN doing something that challenges me, pushes me, and sometimes shows my deepest inadequacies.
Belief can do that. It’s the most powerful thing I have.
I AM THE FUN!
