It happens everyday. My kids come home from school.
They talk. And talk. And talk.
They tell stories of kids who do crazy things.
They tell stories of kids who don’t listen.
They tell stories of kids who get in trouble.
They tell stories of kids that just don’t get it.
And then they solve the problems for the kids.
If they would’ve just …, then …
I notice I do it too.
I tell stories of people who do crazy things.
I tell stories of people who don’t listen.
I tell stories of people who get in trouble.
I tell stories of people that just don’t get it.
And then I solve the problems for the people.
If they would’ve just …, then …
This seems like a valuable use of my time.
Like it’s serving me.
Like I’m adding value to the world. Making it better.
And then I saw it for what it was.
It was ME choosing to spend time in someone else’s brain.
A place I most definitely DO NOT BELONG.
The ONLY BRAIN I should spend time in is my own.
If you find yourself rewriting other people’s lives, ask yourself, “Why?”
And then get back in your own brain where you belong.
Changing the world begins with change.
The only thing you can change is you.
Do that first, my friends. Stay in your own brain. It’s where you belong.
