2020 is Your Canvas to Create a Life You Love

create a life you love

Welcome to 2020! I am here to help you create a life you love.

There’s been SO much talk lately about the dawning of a new year and a new decade that it’s likely you’re feeling a little overwhelmed by it all.

Don’t worry if you’re not feeling excited. I’m here to help.

I remember a few years ago when I felt completely lost in the “have to’s” of life and the requirements of “recreating myself” for the upcoming new year. The pressure to conform to typical new year procedures was more than I could stand. I was avoiding it all and feeling very stressed and stuck, but I didn’t understand why. Survival was the basis of my existence. It was painful and I longed for the advent of the new year to be a distant memory.

After being introduced to Brooke Castillo and embracing coaching, I recognized I’d felt like I was merely surviving in my life because I was living according to someone else’s rules, the world’s rules. I had subscribed to ideas and theories and requirements that I’d never intentionally questioned or thoughtfully debated with myself. I had blindly accepted the underlying notion that “I do as those around me do” because society’s way must be my way.

This realization gave me the confidence to create change in my life. I stopped living according to the prescriptions of others. I stopped doing what was “normal” and intentionally defined my own version of what my new ME would be. I questioned everything. I wrote it all down and looked at it with curiosity. I offered myself compassion as I broke out of my shell and transformed the framework of existence I had previously predicated my life upon.

Some people didn’t like it. Some people didn’t like me. Some people wanted me to follow the norm because the change was uncomfortable for them, but I didn’t give in. I stayed committed to creating a new framework of beliefs and guidelines for myself that moved me to feel like I was thriving instead of just surviving.

It’s taken me time to reshape myself, but as I enter 2020, I’ve never loved myself more than I do today. I am thrilled with who I’ve become. I know why I do the things I do and I know why I don’t do other things. I’ve decided on purpose. I’ve chosen to define myself precisely as I want to be.

There are no apologies. There are no more qualms about not doing what others do. There are no more sleepless nights of swirling thoughts of inadequacy and emptiness.

There is now peace, joy, and contentment in being uniquely me.

As you look to 2020 please thoughtfully consider this… YOU get to decide.

You get to choose what you do. Who you are. What you believe. How you show up. What you share. What you treasure. How you parent. How you love. Who you love. How you connect.

There are no hard and fast rules, my friend.

You don’t have to make resolutions.

You don’t have to set goals.

You don’t have to have a word of the year.

You don’t have to share everything online for it to matter.

You don’t have to lose weight or plan your life to the minute.

You don’t have to change anything if you don’t want to.

You don’t have to do ANY of it.

But if YOU CHOOSE to change and YOU WANT to change for YOU, by all means, do it. Do it for you, not for the world, for the eyes watching or for the likes on Instagram. Do it because you want to make 2020 the year you define YOU on purpose. The year you celebrate living in your own skin and loving who you are deep down.

Life is full of beginnings in the form of new days and new years.
2020 is your canvas to create a life you love.

Do it for you.
